The control software is Mach3 running on a PC connected to the mill via USB. I use Fusion360 for CAD/CAM. The CAD/CAM for my model (Solid copper Octahedron) simulates fine in Fusion360. The post processor (CNC Router Parts Mach3Mill) generates G-code successfully. However, whenever there is an axis rotation the G-code runs the tool into the B ...

Re: Mach3 - Engraver - Axis won't stay calibrated. If you want your machine to have any thrust to cut then your steppers need torque to produce that thrust. If you want your machine to be able to follow a varying tool path then your steppers need the torque to accelerate the axis.

Mach3 needs to know the difference in rpm between the driving motor and the spindle in terms of an accurate ratio. This ratio (which needs to be expressed as Spindle rpm to Motor rpm) must be calculated or measured and entered into Mach3 in the dialog box shown in Figure 4. Pulley setup is covered in detail in the Mach3 Mill Manual in Section 5 ...

If your mill is fitted with Home switches, Mach3 can be set up to move the slides until the Home switches trip, then set itself so that point is X0 Y0 Z0. It does need to be set up to do that, though. If you are not connected to a mill, or if your mill …

when I slave motors in Mach3 and go to e steps configuration, do I have to config both motors separately or will Mach3 work that out, probably a silly question. Yes, you have to set both axis to the same steps per settings.

Our 4th Axis head stock can be driven by our standard 3.0 amp driver. The software used to control the 4th axis would need to be able to control 4 axes (X, Y, Z and A). Mach3, LinuzCNC and Planet-CNC are good examples of control software that can control more than 3 axes.

Oct 23, 2016. #2. The rotary axis is set to degrees and a 90 to 1 gear ratio will make a very accurate setup. The 4th axis in Mach3 should be setup as the A axis and make it rotary. The diameter compensation does not work on all Mach3 versions. I recommend version 66 as being the least likely to cause problems.

Mach3 makes slaving an axis really easy. As in the screen shot below, click Config and then Slave Axis. This drings up a box, as below. I selected the X axis as the axis to be slaved, and below that, B axis as the drive follow the X axis commands. Now, everything Mach3 tells the X to do, the B will do, also. A couple of other things to make it ...

In general config set 'Home slave with master axis' to disabled. Make sure you have each of the two switches on a separate input to Mach. Auto squaring doesn't work with the switches in series on the same input. Note: You can have all your switches in series bar one of them on the dual axis thus using only two inputs if your restricted.
